Dear White Friends…

So, you mean to tell me that after all is said and done, you and I have stood side by side, to fight racial injustice, only for you and I not to be able to report when a black man is harassing us for fear of being called “racist?”

Is that what we did?

I am black too. I go through the same struggles and for what? They have been ignored unless I made myself heard. So why can’t 40 year old black men do the same? Why do I have to be exceptional? I am also a mother, a survivor of child sexual assault and a woman.

Racism is no excuse for uncivilized behavior or low achievement when you are able bodied and of sound mind.
